How do I transfer a call?

A call comes in to your phone and you have the person on the line who needs to speak to someone else.  You can either make an UNATTENDED transfer or an ATTENDED transfer.  An unattended transfer is the simplest and in this case the call will immediately ring through to the new extension.  In the case of an attended transfer, you have the option to talk to the destination extension prior to transferring the call.

To make an Unattended transfer:

Press the hash key (#) and listen for command to "Transfer" then enter extension and hang up.  If you do not dial an extension within a few seconds, you will be returned to the caller.  It is therefore a good idea to know the extension number you wish to transfer to before pressing the # key.

To make an Attended transfer:

Press the shortcut key labelled "xfer".  You will hear a dial tone.  Dial the destination extension and talk to the called party as needed.  If the party elects to take the call, press the button next to “Xfer” option on the screen which releases the call to that extension.  If the intended recipient doesn't want to take that call, once they hang up from you, press the flashing button to the right of the display screen to return and attend to the caller.
